Sappemeer Wedding: Lieneke + Patrick

He was a little tense he had to admit when he stood there waiting in front of the door waiting for her to open it. What would she look like? And would she like his beautiful suit? All expectations were exceeded when they first saw each other. It was so nice to see the looks of admiration when Patrick looked at his bride. That look showed how lucky he considered himself to be able to marry such a beautiful woman. En that feeling was mutual because Lieneke couldn't hide the look of admiration and happiness that she was about to call this handsome man her husband.

All of their family and friends shared in their happiness and did everything in their power to make this day as unforgettable as possible. En wat a champions they were. At lot of couples would not have stayed outside during family portrets with little raindrops falling down but not Lieneke and Patrick. A little rain wouldn't hurt them and it showed in the result of all the images.

Lieneke and Patrick. You are a special couple and I am so honored that I was allowed to capture your wedding day. Wishing you lot's of love and happiness !

What to look for in a Wedding Photographer

Category: Photography | Wedding

As a photographer it is easy to say that every couple should choose a professional wedding photographer, a specialist who knows how to get beautiful, emotional, timeless, classic, great, real, amazing, fantastic images. Images that you will want to see every chance you get. But a professional wedding photographer is also quite an investment. But there is a reason.

A wedding photographer has not only invested money studing photography but also took training, workshops, bought and insured gear to perform their craft. That shows in the result. The quality of images is so different from a point and shoot camera or a consumer camera.

A wedding photographer has experience photographing weddings and knows what to expect. They have a sense of where to be and what to look for. Just like every specialist in every field a photographer knows photography so look at their portfolio, look at their website and blog if they have it, to see the style and if it fits your style. Don't try to change a photographer by asking for another style. Go out and find the photographer that fits you it will make you so much more happy with the end result.

A wedding photographer can provide you art work to show case on your wall, share your images via an online gallery that you can share with friends and families when you want and wedding albums that exceed anything that you can order from your local supermarket or online shop. A wedding photographer has access to the best album companies that have albums with the best quality and can create custom designed albums.

So if you are doubting to whether to choose a professional photographer do not hesitate. If you do not have a large budget hire a professional photographer for a limited amount of time instead of none at all. Because in the end the only tangible piece that you will have from your wedding day are your images.

Style your wedding day with flowers

Category: Wedding

Flowers are amazing! They make people happy with all these colors. That is why capturing bouquets, centerpieces and boutennieres. I always look forward to see all the pretty that a florist has created. A beautiful bouquet can really make my day.

It is also a possibility to give a wedding day color. That is why it so fun to see couples have eye for details and choose a colortheme and flowers to style a wedding day and make it personal. When choosing flowers it is always good to choose a specialist. Florists that know flowers, which to choose and combine in your wedding bouquet that will last all day long.

Don't you agree that this make you happy!

Come prepared or what to put in your emergency kit

Category: Photography | Wedding

Do you believe in luck or do you come prepared? Sometimes it is good to do both. So I take enough time to get to a destination, make sure I know the route even though I have navigation and I have an umbrella to vent of the rain.

When it comes to your wedding day it is always good to be prepared. But what to have in your emergency kit?

1. Pantyhose

You never know what happens to that first pair so aways take a back up pair of panty hose. Even though you wear a long dress you just feel better if you do not have a runner in them.

2. Transparant nailpolish

If you do not have panty hose in the bag make sure to have transparent nailpolish because you will always need it.

3. Needle and thread

For that rip in you dress or anything else that needs stitching.

4. Do I need my deodorant to day

Buy a small size deodorant to put in the bag because when you turn into a cold sweat you know you come prepared.

5. Lipgloss and lipgloss and then lipgloss

With all that kissing on your wedding day you can never have enough lipgloss.

What to consider when structuring your photography timeline

Category: Photography | Wedding

When you decide to get married all options are still open. Locations, transport, dress, suit, rings, flowers, cake, etc. Everything is possible. But what is wise to do especially if you want to have a relaxed day with enough time for photography?

As we see a lot of weddings I would like to give you some tips on you wedding photography timeline.

1. The amount of locations

When you have different get ready locations, first look location, ceremony location, reception location and diner and party location you can image you would be traveling a lot from one location to another. With every travel moment you loose time with the guest and you add stress especially when you have to travel by car and not all locations are easy to find or do not have enough parking space. If you limit your day to one or two locations you have more time to enjoy with your guests and have time to get all of photographed.

2. A first look

If you would like to be with your guest all through the day consider a first look before all the guests arrive. This give you time to schedule your portraits to be taken be excited to see eachother for the first time which is always very emotional and have time to talk with your guests after the ceremony. If you have sunset you could also decide to allocate some time for sunset portraits. Especially during the golden hour after the ceremony it is great to get away for just a short while and have amazing images taken.

3. Ceremony time

If you have your ceremony at a location that you have for the whole day consider having it later in the afternoon especially during summer. Main reason is if you have an indoor ceremony and the temporature rise you and your guests will be less than comfortable. Old locations are usually not air conditioned so everybody will feel warm which will be far less at the end of the afternoon. If you are getting married outside the same applies the sun is bright and hot during the mid day. Your images will look much more flattering if you would have your ceremony at e.g. three or four in the afternoon than at noon.

The PASS mobile app

Category: Wedding

Since 2012 I decided to provide all our couples with an online PASS gallary instead of a DVD with their images. That way they had the flexibility to decided where they want to store their images and how they want to share them. It was always possible to view the images on a smartphone but now PASS has become even better. Every couple can install the PASS app onto their phone and download all their images to their phone so that they can view their images even if they are offline.

The images look amazing on a phone and the app is available for iPhone and Android. Another reason to find a photographer that offers PASS. Look at the video to see what I mean. Want to know why brides love PASS? Take a look here.
