Albums you will love

Category: Albums | Wedding

Everytime I receive an album in the mail I am excited to take a peek to see how it turned out and every time I am not disappointed. It is even more fun to bring the album to the couple and see their first reaction when they unwrap it. Even though they choose the images for the album and see the album design before I send it to the album company it still is a great feeling to hold the end result. They usually want to see it over and over again.

I strongly recommend an album to my couples. Yes albums come at a price and yes you will not look at it every day but just like with childhood albums when you do it is really something special. So when you go hire a photographer for you wedding consider an album. My album company is getting better and better each year. They now supply their fine art albums with gloves so that you do not have to worry that people will touch your album with dirty hands but keep your album nice and clean.

I hope that they have had much to smile about this past year the first year of their marriage. That all of the love that they shared on this day has been able to grow even more.

Wow where has this year gone. This time last year the location was the beautiful Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam where Sonal and Kislay said I do to each other. What a great day it was and what a sweet couple. I hope this first year has been filled with joy and happiness and the beginning of many more years to come.

Album options

Category: Albums | Wedding

A little while back my album company QT albums contacted me if I would like to receive some samples of their fine art album paper and flush mount photo paper with some of my images. They also asked if I liked to receive a new swatch ring. I happily responded that I would indeed like to receive some samples and forgot about it.

Until I received a package in the mail. I was expecting an envelop with some samples you see, nothing more but to my surprise I received a beautiful package. It included the various cover options, samples of the three fine art papers with my own images and the photographic paper tied together in a beautiful booklet. I was really amazed with this gift.

This way it will be even easier to show my couples what album options are available and then they are able to see the possibilities for themselves. This beautiful showcase really stands out and shows that my album company knows what photographers need.

If you would like to come and see the options that we provide come and see for yourself.

4 Tips to get the most out of your family formals

Family portraits are often part of the wedding day. The bride and groom as the centre, looking their best with their family and friends gathering around them. Family portraits can be a time consuming effort and a challenge to plan without the couple having to freeze their smile.

If you want effortless family formals and get the most out of your formals consider the following:

Choose a spaceous location

That is easy to say but consider the garden of the wedding location. Choose a location with some space so large groups can fit in easily without people feeling squeezed in. Outdoor locations are the best possible option. Don't let a couple of rain drops scare you. One of the group images below was take while some rain drops fell, they held on and what beautiful images it turned out to be.

Background

We will always try to find locations that have some depth in the background. It adds even more space to the image but can also help focus on the group in the centre of the image.

Have fun

Real laughter shows in an image. I always try to get that genuine smile that laughter that makes a great family formal because family formals do not have to only be formal.

Make a list

Yes I am actually advising a list, I know it sounds grazy coming from me the person who despises shotlists. But the only part of the wedding day to make a shot list of is the family formal. If you consider before hand who you want to have in a separate family formal will help speed up taking the actual image. Family formals can take up to half an hour to forty five minutes with big families and friend. With a list and your maid of honor or planner help gathering all the family member can speed up this proces considerably.

I hope this helps just one person while planning your wedding day. Have a great weekend!

Ask Anything: Why capture details

Category: Photography | Wedding

While meeting couples when they are considering a wedding photographer they ask a lot of different things. From common questions as the amount of images they get from they wedding day, how they get there images to delivered or why I would want to photograph the dress or shoes.

Answering the last question I tell couples that a wedding day is build out of many big moments which will always be the main focus of a wedding day but also out of small details. When capturing a wedding it is not just one or the other but a combination that tells the story. Your story the story of all of the elements that you have selected, of what is special for you. For some that might be the color theme they selected or all of the DIY love and labor you put in you wedding. I want to showcase those besides the big moments because to small details are the first thing you forget but are also important.

And they make for great spreads in your album.
