Waterland Wedding: Judith & Wim

When he walked into the cafe he did not know that, that evening would change the course of his life forever. He did not know that he would meet a girl, not just any girl but the most beautiful girl in the world, the love of his life. One glance was all it took, she saw him and she liked him straight away and if he would pass her test this could be interesting. Well he passed with flying colors not even knowing he was tested. One thing was clear, she had met her match and it helped that he was a good kisser too.

Fast forward 4,5 years. They went scuba diving and Judith felt a little restless, maybe she felt that something was about to happen. And something did happen when down there below in the blue water Wim surprised her by showing her his proposal, his question written on two plates saying "Will you, marry me?"
And she did on their 5 year anniversary. In the most beautiful dress which was the first one she tried on. Just like with Wim she knew, this is the one.

Wim and Judith, thank you. Thank you for your trust, for allowing us to be part of your day and letting us document it. You two are very special. Never forget this beautiful day and the love you feel for each other and life will be good. Have a great time in Tanzania.

Tafelberg Wedding: Dieuwke and Johan

The lights were shining in the hotel suite and the place was buzzing with activity. The make up artist working her magic while the camera crew was taking shots and Dieuwke and her girlfriends chatting about the day ahead. She had slept well and was not nerves. Dieuwkes voice was deep and sexy due to a slight cold that had caught her earlier in the week. So she kept the talking to a minimum not wanting to lose her voice, while she transformed into a beautiful bride ready to go meet Johan.

Johan paced the street in front of their house waiting for Dieuwke. You see Dieuwke and Johan may have a lot of traditional elements their first look was not one of them. And so Johan waited as Dieuwke with her best friend drove into the street. Johan decided he could not wait for Dieuwke to get out of the car and when he first saw her he was the one lost for words. The emotion of the moment caught him and all he could do was whisper that she looked beautiful.

They planned their day to perfection and all of it came together while they said the important words to each other, to their small family. Their vows that completed them and even though Dieuwke could hardly talk because she lost her voice, the love that radiated between Johan and Dieuwke spoke volumes.

Johan and Dieuwke, thank you for allowing us to document your wedding day and capture beautiful memories. Have a great time in Los Angeles!

Engagement: Dieuwke and Johan

The world is a stage, a saying that applies especially to Dieuwke and Johan. They met back stage at for one of the biggest musical productions in that year, Beauty and the Beast, where they both worked. Only the title does not apply to Dieuwke and Johan as they are two beautiful people.

A tale as old as time, how the lyrics of that song tells the tale of Dieuwke and Johan. Because when their eyes met for the first time, they laughed and talked to each other without saying a word. Barely even friends but from that first moment they knew without saying what they felt about each other. Their lives were miles apart and still just by sharing that first look all of a sudden something changed and they were so very close.

Six years have passed and their lives have changed since that first encounter back stage. They went from just being two to three and then four with the birth of their two adorable sons and they are a family now. But they were not officially a family yet and that will change.

Soon because Johan proposed to Dieuwke on New Years Eve two year ago because their love started a long time ago around Christmas and New Year. So no big surprise that this time of year holds a special place in their lives and that they decided to choose this period to say I do to eachother. A time of joy, hope, new life and celebration. Ever just as sure as the sun will rise.

Museum Cafe Wedding: Meike and Martijn

Meike sat in the chair while she was turned into a bride while her two girlfriends looked on. They laughed, chattered, joked and enjoyed their time together as Meike got beautified. Not for a moment if felt like they had a wedding to go to but as the girls were turned into diva's as well and Meike got in her wedding dress everybody was waiting anxiously for Martijn to arrive.

Well Martijn look more time to get to Meike but when he did he could not be stopped. He raced through the front door to finally hold Meike in his arms. He was lost for words when he saw her. Holding her close again and again never wanted to let her go.

Meike and Martijn I am sure you wedding day ended with a big bang. It was an absolute joy to document your wedding day, to be part of it. To capture the love between you two. Have a great honeymoon on Curacao.

Engagement: Judith and Wim

"I have a plan." Wim told his mother not detailing the how and what. You see Judith had said on many occasion that she did not want to get married. She loved Wim and Wim loved her and that was more than enough. But Wim did not agree. He wanted to show the world that this beautiful girl by his side is the love of his live not just his girlfriend and he knew she would feel the same way if only he would ask her.

So he went to a jeweler and goldsmith and under their guidance a ring came to life that contained every element he loved so much about Judith. It was sophisticated, smart and on top of all beautiful.

All the ingredients where their to ask Judith to marry him the only thing he needed was a location. Which presented itself when they went on vacation to Bonaire to enjoy their passion for scuba diving. With this ring burning in his pocket they went on their way. And on this Island, in this romantic setting Judith did not hesitated. Her heart melted hearing his question, seeing the ring. There was only one answer she could give and that was yes.

Wim and Judith I had a great time during our walk through Haarlem and I am looking forward to your wedding next year.

De Duif Church Wedding: Yulia and Jochem

Yulia started her day in the beautiful suite at Amstel Hotel. A place with beauty and character just like Yulia. She looked positively radiant when she entered the suite after her visit to the hair dresser. Her bridemaids, three of her best friends, were already dressed and waiting to help her look even more beautiful in her wedding gown under the watchfull eye of her mother.

Accompanied by Russian singing we went in a salon boot to the de Duif church where Jochem was waiting anxiously on her arrival. Her father walked her down the aisle and Jochem was visible touched by the beauty of the woman who walked towards him. Who would say I do in just a matter of moments. And with these two words their lives united, like the small candles that lit the union candle with a flame that is shining brightly. Like the separate raindrops that fell and together filled an ocean (or in Jochem and Yulia's case a canal), and turned them into one.

And they could not be more happy while they toasted champagne in de Industrieele Groote Club, where they had their reception and party, with people surrounding them that love them and wish them all the best in live. Jochem and Yulia you are a beautiful couple, keep shining as bright as the union candle lighting the path to a bright future. Thank you for including us in your day.

Church at Sea Wedding: Myronne and Bart

Category: Slideshow | Wedding

When Bart came to pick up Myronne he seemed relaxed but there was more than meets the eye because he was nervous he said. He looked sharp in his tux, high hat in hand but at the same time the adreneline was racing through his system for he could not wait to see her. Myronne could not wait for this moment as well, looking so beautiful and elegant and when she saw Bart a smile appeared that never left her face. For a moment he was lost for words, realising that in just a short while she would say I do to that very important question. Knowing he was the luckiest man in the world.

So the day could start. All the ingredients were there for it to be beautiful day. A handsome groom in a tuxedo and a beautiful bride in champagne white, their son, the ring barer in his all whites stealing the show and some great little details. But it turned out to be so much more than beautiful. With emotional moments when Bart saw Myronne walk down the aisle with her father, promising to take care of his daugther. Songs that gave all attendees goosebumps and tears when the fathers gave their children a message from the heart.

Bart and Myronne one thing became clear on this day, you two belong together. Two beautiful people, blessed with two beautiful children. I want to thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding and may this day forever bring happy memories.

Old Church Wedding: Giullitta and Liselotte

Category: Slideshow | Wedding

I entered their apartment expecting craziness, nieces running around, mum and aunts fretting over the bride, but there was a serene kind of quietness about the place. She slept well she said although she was awake quite early.

No reason to get up at 6 so she just waited. For her day to start, for her dress to arrive, for her make up to be applied, for the driver to come and pick her up. All this while calm and relaxed. She easily won the most relaxed bride award.

But the nerves were running through her body when she started down the isle with her brother. Because she could not wait for it to begin. To see Liselotte. Accompanied by 'Just the way you are' song live so beautifully gave every one goosebumps. Because these two are perfect just they way they are. Laughter and tears all in that one moment.

Giullitta and Liselotte thank you so much for making us part of your day. To have us capture your life and love. You two are special. Always remember the love of the people surrounding you on this day and the look when you first saw each other at the church, where ever you may go and you will overcome anything.

Engagement: Myronne & Bart

The engagement session was the first time we actually met, in person. We emailed and phoned and emailed and phoned some more and then we actually got to meet on this lovely afternoon in Muiderberg. From the start it was clear that Bart and Myronne are a team. A fun team at that. They talked and laughed, they shared their idea's and opinions and that's what makes them a great couple.

They met three years ago at work as Bart explained and they made quite and impression on each other. A once in a life time impression. This one meeting that would change their lives forever, giving it a whole different direction that they would probably thought possible. But here they are three years later, blessed with a boy and a girl and ready to get married.

On this almost tropical day we went in downtown Muiderberg and had a great time shooting away. Their little baby girl joined us and how sweet she was not a sound. Bart and Myronne I can't wait for the wedding that is coming soon.

St Bavo Cathedral Wedding: Cenda & Drikus

That they had not met each other earlier is a miracle in it self because they went to the same bar for years. Cenda with her girlfriends and Drikus with his friends. But when they finally did meet each other it was fire. Okay they went on a double date first. To see what would happen. To play it save. But when they talked and laughed and talked some more they knew this felt good. That this was it.

On this day all those years later a lot of things have happened in their lives but the basis is still here. They talk and laugh. A tear may fall but they know that this is where they want to be. Because with each other they feel save.

This past Friday Drikus and Cenda shared their wedding day with their family and friends in Haarlem in the majestic St Bavo Cathedral where there love was united into one. Under the watchfull eyes of their three little sons they said I do. The sun was high in the sky and it became the day that they had dreamed about for a long time. Perfect from start to finish.

Cenda and Drikus, I have said it before you are both special people. From the moment we first met that was clear. Being part of your day felt like being part of your family and that is something special in itself. We are both so proud to have capture your  day. All those magical moments because that is how it felt and I think that is what the images are magic.

Keep on talking and laughing and the sun will keep on shining where ever the road may take you. Have a great time in Italy.

Happy Friday!

Drikus could not believe his eyes when he first saw Cenda. What an emotional moment.

Had to capture all the shoes!

Their son Myka looked great with the drivers cap

The whole square in front of the town hall filled up quickly when Johan sang 'This is the moment' to Cenda and Drikus. It was a surprise arranged by friends. What a special moment.

This shot was captured by Antoinette. A special moment between mother and son. Love this image.

Cenda and Drikus decided to shake it up! They entered city hall dancing on 'Dirty Bit' of the Black Eyed Peas while their friends joined the celebration.

I do! I do!

In St Bavo Cathedral Drikus watches his bride coming down the aisle.

Love this image below. One of my favorites of the day.

All the balloons up in the air.

Cup cakes and a wedding cake. My favorite combination.

And some bubbly to toast.

On to the station.

Hello gorgeous!

I love this series. No directing. They just looked in each others eyes and that was all it took.

Love, love, love. Look at that light.

Found a scooter which we had to borrow for a bit.

Instead of a guest album they created a wish tree. Love this original idea. All those love letters they can keep and read.

The first dance.
