One year ago today kasteel de Wittenburg Wedding: Rachella + Felix

Category: Photography | Wedding

One year ago we had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Rachella and Felix in kasteel de Wittenburg. It is hard to believe that a year has already passed that we had this beautiful couple in front of our camera's in this beautiful location.

Rachella and Felix I hope you had a great first year and that you will have many more together.

Amsterdamse Bos Engagement: Kislay + Sonal

For their engagement session we went to the Amsterdamse Bos. We had to reschedule and while we discussed options for morning sessions we both found time in our agenda to have the session in the evening instead. What a good decision that was. We had the Amsterdamse Bos all to ourself and the sun treated Kislay and Sonal extra friendly. They were so relaxed and natural in front of the camera that the session flew by.

Here a small selection of their images.

Amsterdam Portrait: Karin

Category: Photography | Portrait

Today the full result of Karins session. She came really prepaired and had some accessories and wardrobe changes to give her images a different look and feel. I always advise my clients to bring additional clothing items to add variation to the images. Further Karin wanted to give her portraits a business feel so she can also use them for her work. I say that this really worked but it doesn't mean the images can radiate some fun as well.

As you can see in the results.

Amsterdamse Bos Engagement Preview: Kislay + Sonal

They we were directed in my direction via their wedding location, the Regardz Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. We shot a wedding at one of the Regardz Silverentoren venues before but not at the Olympic stadium this import historic place in Amsterdam. While talking about Kislay and Sonal's wedding day and the ideas about their photography I explained about the engagement session and why I invite couples to an engagement session. They were immediately enthousiastic about the idea and when we went out this week it translated in the images.

See for yourselve in todays preview! These two are beautiful.

Amsterdam City Engagement: Sergey + Natalia

For more than a year they chatted via the internet before they saw eachother in real life and that didn't disappoint. How could it be, a young beautiful intelligent women who studied in Moscow and graduated with two degrees and a succesfull young soccer player who plays in the premier league of Kazakhstan.

It was clear that these two love eachother very much, they have so much fun together, laughed together and when Sergey looked at Natalia he can still make her blush. So as we roam the city we talked about Amsterdam, their engagement and upcoming wedding later this year. I am so happy that they decided to go to Amsterdam and capture their engagement images there. Because I do not think that I have captured so many great images from an engagement session.

Amsterdam Portrait Preview: Karin

Category: Photography | Portrait

We know eachother for years. A while back we set a date to meet for a drink and catch up on what is going on with life. Karin asked me if I could shoot some portraits and even though it is exiciting to shoot people you know it is also kind of scary but I said yes.

Last week we met in the outskirts of Amsterdam, which is really rural area, for her portraits. We had such a great time during her session and even with a some rain in the air we managed to keep the majority of her session dry. Today a preview of Karins portrait session.

Amsterdam City Engagement Preview: Sergey + Natalia

It is always a pleasure to receive an inquiry from couples that do not live in the Netherlands but would like a session here. This time it was an email from Sergey and Natalia who are getting married later this year but wanted their engagement to be captured in Amsterdam. We chatted back and forth discussing the locations that we could visit. This past week I had them in front of my camera.

We choose the best evening of the week and had a mini tour of Amsterdam. What a beautiful couple they are and it was an absolute pleasure to have them in front of my camera. Today a preview.

With this Ring

Category: Photography | Wedding

Ringshot are fun to make but also kind of tricky. Especially with a macro len and an wide open aperture there is a very shallow depth of field and before you know it the ring is out of focus. The trick if you can call it that is to close the aperture to e.g. F6.3 or even F7.1 that way you make certain the ring is largly sharp and in focus.

Downside to with a small aperture the amount of light decreases. For this image there was light enough but it can mean that additional light is required to get a sharp image without movement.

Settings: Lens 50mm, ISO 1000, F7.1 , 1/40
