Beautiful wedding photography for Lovers

De Deining Family shoot preview

Category: Family

I met Thessa last year when she was one of the coordinators at the wedding of René and Mireille in Castricum and it immediately felt like we knew eachother forever. We kept in touch via Twitter and when she asked me a couple of months ago if I wanted to do a family session I was not only honored but also delighted. As a surprise for her inlaws all of there children and grand children would be included in the shoot.

The location was easily found because as we had such a great time at De Deining last year at the wedding we both agreed that we could do a rerun. We set the date for a sunday and while the rest of the country was covered in rain we had an afternoon in the sun. We were so lucky.

We had a great time and the family did great in front of the camera. I am sharing more soon but here a preview.

Engagement: Judith and Wim

"I have a plan." Wim told his mother not detailing the how and what. You see Judith had said on many occasion that she did not want to get married. She loved Wim and Wim loved her and that was more than enough. But Wim did not agree. He wanted to show the world that this beautiful girl by his side is the love of his live not just his girlfriend and he knew she would feel the same way if only he would ask her.

So he went to a jeweler and goldsmith and under their guidance a ring came to life that contained every element he loved so much about Judith. It was sophisticated, smart and on top of all beautiful.

All the ingredients where their to ask Judith to marry him the only thing he needed was a location. Which presented itself when they went on vacation to Bonaire to enjoy their passion for scuba diving. With this ring burning in his pocket they went on their way. And on this Island, in this romantic setting Judith did not hesitated. Her heart melted hearing his question, seeing the ring. There was only one answer she could give and that was yes.

Wim and Judith I had a great time during our walk through Haarlem and I am looking forward to your wedding next year.

Museum Cafe Wedding Preview: Meike and Martijn

Category: Photography | Wedding

The sky turned black, thunder and light followed. It was still early morning and one thing was already clear. The wedding of Meike and Martijn started with a bang, it would not go by unnoticed that was for sure. And all the weather stations agreed, thunderstorm, rain and whirlwinds would follow there was no denying especially when in Amsterdam.

But the sky cleared and a faint ray of sun light pried through the clouds. A miracle? Angels looking out for Meike and Martijn? No telling but it felt like a miracle when we went outside and did there session outside without a single rain drop. We kept on checking the sky for dark clouds while Meike and Martijn only had eye for each other. And those dark clouds? They were nowhere to be seen.

Here a first preview.

Engagement preview: Judith and Wim

A love story a story of love is there anything sweeter than that? Two people finding that special someone a soulmate a person connecting on a level never encountered before. An with a love story a boy meets a girl, like Wim met Judith. He came from the west and she came from the east and they met in the north during college. Judith finished school but lingered just a little in her college town waiting unconsciously for the man of her dreams. Finding him that evening on a night out not knowing that her life would not be the same again.

This week I had the pleasure of walking along the streets of Haarlem together with Judith and Wim for there engagement shoot. It turned out to be a lovely evening talking about their wedding day. Here of course a preview of their session.

Behind the scenes

Category: Photography

I need to get a more steady hand when I shift the camera and make sure I crop the image the right way but I thought it kind of fun to create a video with some behind the scenes footage of the shoot we did with Novian. That way you get to see the other photographers we collaborated with Anne, Rurie and Peter, and I.Ayu.

A beautiful day!

Category: Personal | Wedding

Today is a memorable day because it is exactly 2922 days, 70128 hrs and 4.207.680 minutes ago we said I do. Every year as we grow a little older and our wedding day is a year further away I still remember every moment like it was just  yesterday.

Because I will forever remember this beautiful day.

De Duif Church Wedding: Yulia and Jochem

Yulia started her day in the beautiful suite at Amstel Hotel. A place with beauty and character just like Yulia. She looked positively radiant when she entered the suite after her visit to the hair dresser. Her bridemaids, three of her best friends, were already dressed and waiting to help her look even more beautiful in her wedding gown under the watchfull eye of her mother.

Accompanied by Russian singing we went in a salon boot to the de Duif church where Jochem was waiting anxiously on her arrival. Her father walked her down the aisle and Jochem was visible touched by the beauty of the woman who walked towards him. Who would say I do in just a matter of moments. And with these two words their lives united, like the small candles that lit the union candle with a flame that is shining brightly. Like the separate raindrops that fell and together filled an ocean (or in Jochem and Yulia's case a canal), and turned them into one.

And they could not be more happy while they toasted champagne in de Industrieele Groote Club, where they had their reception and party, with people surrounding them that love them and wish them all the best in live. Jochem and Yulia you are a beautiful couple, keep shining as bright as the union candle lighting the path to a bright future. Thank you for including us in your day.

Sometimes it is not about the money, sometimes it is not about "we have to charge you 250 euro's", sometimes it is not about I do for you so what do you do for me. Because sometimes it is just about we are more than happy to help, you are welcome. Because sometimes it is about come in early and I will show you the best locations. Because sometimes it is only about "have fun!".

It exist, they exist, people with a big heart, people who want to share, people who have your best interest at heart. It is just a matter of finding them. Don't give up, they are out their somewhere and when you meet them you know who they are. That is all. Dare to find them, to discover them.

Want to show the great little store they had at De Groene Ham the location we could use for our styled shoot. All of their products organic with these lovely colors.

Styled Shoot: Novian

Category: Photography | Wedding

Here are the images from the shoot we had with Novian and I am so proud of the result. I met Novian beginning of this year and immediately liked her. She is such a vibrant girl, with a bubbly personality that radiates fun. She had already found her wedding photographer for her wedding in June but we kept in touch. So when we started thinking about a styled shoot the first person I thought about was Novian.

When I asked if she wanted to join us for this shoot she immediately said yes. "That way I get the chance to wear my dress again!" she said. And what a stunning dress it was and I was just in time because she is thinking about altering it and make it short. No half measure because Novian was so enthousiastic about the shoot that she got herself a birdcage to wear. Which looked stunning.

Novian thanks so much for being your beautiful self and thank you for helping us out with the shoot. Enjoy the result.

De Duif Church Wedding preview: Yulia and Jochem

Category: Photography | Wedding

She kept postponing her trip to Amsterdam. Originally from Russia now living in London, she always wanted to go but everytime something came up. And then one day she decided it was time, no more delays, no more changing airplane tickets, she would go to Amsterdam.

Little did she know that this weekend would change her life forever. Because at a party in Amsterdam she met Jochem. They hit it of from the start, had fun together from the start. When he found out she was living in London he promised he would come and visit soon. Right Yulia thought never really believing he would actually book tickets to come and visit. But Jochem is a man of his word. Two weeks later the tickets were booked and the rest is history.

Eventhough they now both live in London this weekend 3,5 years after they first met, they celebrated their wedding in the city where it all started. While Amsterdam is having a hard time showing how beautiful it can be during the summer it never the less was a beautiful day.

Here a sweet image of Yulia and Jochem.
